OUR ORIGIN
FEMJUSTICE was founded in 2023 by youth with extensive experience in legal aid and human rights work and registered in 2024. The organization draws directly from years of frontline engagement with women and girls whose pursuit of justice were constrained not by absence of law, but by lack of economic power.
We work with partners, members, and supporters who believe that access to justice is not only about laws and courts but about women and girls having the courage, confidence and means to act, survive, and rebuild their lives while seeking it.

About Us
Femjustice is a youth led grassroot organisation in Uganda committed to transforming the lives of vulnerable women and girls. Founded in 2023, the organization was formed out of a deep commitment to address the systemic issues that leave women and girls facing poverty, exploitation and abuse as a result of marginalization and discrimination. Our mission is to empower women and girls to access justice through integrated legal and economic empowerment, education, research, and advocacy.
The inspiration behind Femjustice emanates from the personal experiences of our founder, Bruna. As a young girl, she witnessed the profound challenges women and girls in her community faced, particularly domestic violence, the blatant disregard for women’s property rights and the high school dropout rates among girls. Moved by these injustices, she felt compelled to act. Bruna launched an initiative to educate communities about women’s rights and empower girls with essential soft skills, equipping them to build sustainable, dignified futures.
In 2024, Femjustice became legally registered in Uganda.

Inspiration
The foundation of FemJustice is also rooted in Bruna’s childhood experience of being inspired by a powerful female role model. At just five years old, Bruna was deeply impacted by the visit of the first-ever female vice president to her community. The authority, respect, and eloquence the vice president commanded ignited Bruna’s passion for leadership and justice
Before I joined the FEMJUSTICE Youth Mentorship program in 2020, I had an ambition as a law student but no clear direction and purpose. All I knew was that after Bar Course I needed to get a job, work and earn money. This however is not the case today. FEMJUSTICE mentorship has over the years been the compass I didn’t know I needed. They have not just taught me how to lead but rather showed me how to believe in myself. From helping me refine my goals to opening doors I never thought I’d walk through. Their impact in my career path has been powerful and personal. Today, I walk with confidence, purpose, and vision all thanks to our mentors who saw greatness in me before I saw it myself. Truly being mentored by Ms. Bruna and her team since 2020 has been a life-changing experience.
